Trade 94 | Chestnut Brae Farm
Chestnut syrup, chestnut cream, chestnut mustard, chestnut ale, chestnut fed pork and, of course, the humble roast chestnut. John and Linda's farm concealed in the woods outside of Nannup has one crop yet a seemly endless list of products that I discovered one-by-one each time everyone gathered around the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sunrise and sunset provided the rhythm for us each day, rising behind the 20-year-old orchard in the morning and dropping below the 40-year-old orchard in the evening, each slightly different than the last and stringing light across the chestnut shells that littered the ground.
