Zotty was a bluebottle, an ugly little fly, and how he'd longed all his life, to be a Butterfly. "Butterflies get all the fun!" said Zotty to his friend - "If I flew around like a Butterfly I'd meet a sticky end."

An insight into Rachel's work in progress illustrated tale of Zotty, perhaps slightly clarifying the core motivations behind a few of the charming creations below. I was photographing on paper/in situ versions of her portfolio for Croft Illustrated, an excuse to share more of this art that is so densely packed with character and detail.
