Trade 101 | Uganda Tourism Board
There was a lump under my bed sheets. Bearing in mind it was dark and the boundary distinguishing my living quarters from the surrounding rainforest could not be described as impenetrable, upon inspecting then discovering this lump was warm and furry my animal brain concluded it was alive. I correspondingly laid a brick, leapt from the bed and threw my arms up preparing for a round of fisticuffs with this intruder. Turned out it was just a hot water bottle with a furry cover. Given this lodge was located in the heat of equatorial Africa I still maintain that was the less predictable of conclusions in the moment.
I spent my last few days in Uganda photographing a couple of lodges in the Queen Elizabeth and Kibale National Parks for the Uganda Tourism Board. The latter being Kibale's primate lodge embedded in the aforementioned forest with a variety of primates perfectly comfortable with the human presence for company.
