Trade 90 | Nannup Hideaway
It was so quiet each sip of tea felt deafening. The Milky Way was clearly etched in the sky above and on the horizon a faint dome of light marked one of the nearby towns. Leisa and I paused awhile on the balcony joining the critters and the wind in their silence.
Leisa had picked me up from Perth to head down to this isolated retreat tucked away in the South West. As we progressed southward Perth's urban sprawl fell away to be replaced by the rust tinted earth and muted green forests of the Australian countryside and with each mile I grew more eager to complete our trip, grab my camera and photograph the colour palette of a new country.
The cottages themselves are buried in the trees accessed only via small dirt roads frequented by kangaroos and emus ill-versed their in stop-look-listen road sense, keeping you touchy on the brakes. The whole location and experience designed for those escaping the city or Western Australia's neighbouring countries for a break.
