Trade 95 | Tania Crow

“It's ecstatic dance - everyone goes into a dim room only tasked to dance freely for two hours. No talking allowed, just music.” “Sober?” “Yes, it’s my favourite thing in the world, do you want to come?” “I’m not sure; I do my best to try everything this project throws at me but that sounds terrifying.”

To be complete honest all I could picture in my head was the Rainbow Rhythms sketch from Peep Show, which was certainly not helping my hesitancy. I took the leap and tried it in the end and, while the first 5 minutes of being dropped into this room was pretty much as I feared, I was surprised to find I didn't die and you do warm up into it to eventually find yourself having a good time.

I was greeted by a beaming warmth from both Tania and her daughter, Inca, from the off that only increased as I photographed my way through portraiture, yoga and contact improvisation with her over my stay.
